About Me

My interests and skills are varied, and this is also reflected in the projects I work on. A common thread that connects all of my work is a passion for helping make the world a better place for LGBTQ people and other marginalized communities. About 18 months ago, I decided to leave my full-time job as a research analyst to pursue my creative vision and strong interest in personal growth. After a time of self-reflection and going within, I started my podcast "Your Queer Life Coach," which takes a queer perspective on the deeper meaning of life (something I reflect on quite a bit). I'm currently also looking for representation for my first memoir—my story of resilience, emotional healing, and searching for a place called home and claiming my voice as a queer, non-binary woman in the U.S., land of 90210 and Guns n' Roses.

In addition to my creative pursuits, I also hold a Ph.D. in Communication Studies and take on a limited number of consulting projects related to social justice issues. While I’m trained in both qualitative and quantitative methods, I primarily focus on qualitative research, including interviews, focus groups, and news media analysis. In addition to policy papers and blog posts, I co-authored several research articles published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Homosexuality, Sexuality & Culture, and Information, Communication & Society. This work has been cited more than 450 times.

For the last three years, I have also collaborated with GLAAD on the organization’s  annual Social Media Safety Index to hold leading social media companies accountable for their respect for LGBTQ users’ rights. Together with authors and celebrities such as Glennon Doyle, Elliot Page, Laverne Cox, and Dan Levy, GLAAD is now also using this research to urge tech companies to better protect LGBTQ users from hate and harassment online.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to explore ways we can collaboratewe are living in a time of great uncertainty, and I strongly believe that creative approaches are needed to navigate the challenges ahead.
